Come spring, we want to update our skincare and makeup routines to meet new trends and match the weather's sunny disposition. That means doing away with anything outdated, whether that be old tubes of mascara, heavy winter moisturizers, or dark and vampy lip colors. As for the latter, don't get us wrong. We love a deep red or purple shade as much as the next person, but there's something about flowers blooming and sun shining that makes us crave a brighter and more vivid berry color. The problem? There aren't many lipstick shades that straddle the line between bold, berry, and bright (which happens to be the combination we're looking for). They tend to either read neon purple or deep smoky red upon application. Where's the in-between?
That's where Tatcha's new lip trio comes in. The luxurious beauty brand has released a limited-edition collection that features a lip liner, lipstick, and balm, each lending a vibrant magenta color to the lips. While the trio just launched, it likely won't be around for long. Once it sells out, it's gone for good, so swiftness is key when it comes to snagging one for yourself-and you'll want to once you see the exquisitely chic berry shade.
The lip trio is a part of the brand's new Hanami Collection, which celebrates Japan's famous annual springtime flower viewing ceremony. It's a celebration to welcome spring, but also to acknowledge the transient nature of beauty. This makes sense, considering that the lip trio is limited-edition.
The box-adorned with wisteria leaves, which symbolize love, loyalty, and fleeting time, according to the brand-houses the brand-new shade of Tatcha's famous Silk Lipstick, a Camellia Lip Balm, and a matching Lip Liner. All three products are luxurious, smooth, and nourishing, but the lipstick is what we're most excited about. We've been big fans of the silky-smooth formulas of Tatcha's lipsticks ever since they first launched, and the uniquely vivd berry color was inspired by the Japanese beautyberry, a purple plant that also inspired the brand's Violet-C Radiance Mask ($68).
Take it from Byrdie associate features editor Amanda Montell, who was lucky enough to test out the color firsthand. "Upon first glance at the deep berry hue of this lipstick, I (as daring as I am with lip colors) was slightly intimidated," she says. "But to my major delight, the product is so hydrating and buildable-pigmented but also weirdly sheer-that I've literally worn it three times a week since I got it and just can't quit. It's definitely one of my favorite makeup products I've tried this year."
This lip trio is available for purchase now, retailing for $88. If you're interested in adorning your lips with Tatcha's fresh new lip color, then we recommend you act quickly. Not only is the lip trio limited-edition, but once it sells out, it won't be restocked again. We know we'll be picking up one for ourselves… and maybe one more "as a Mother's Day gift."
